Lakeside Showdown will be open to all ages.

This event will be capped at a maximum of 16 teams and consist of two stages. The Group Stage followed by the Elimination Stage. Match schedules will be posted prior to the day of the event and will be updated as the tournament progresses.

Group Stage:

  • There will be 4 groups consisting of 4 teams each.

  • Each group will play every other team in their group in a round robin format.

  • Each match will be played as best of one. Maps to be played in each game will be provided by organizers prior to the start of the tournament.

  • The Top 2 teams from each group will advance to the Elimination Stage.

Elimination Stage:

  • Each team that advances to this stage will be placed in a tournament style bracket.

  • Matches will be played to best of 3 maps.

  • Maps for each round will be chosen through map bans. Please designate a team captain to be available 15 minutes prior to the start of the match to decide map bans. Each team will iteratively ban maps until a set of 3 is agreed upon. In the event of a 3rd game draw, organizers will select the tiebreaker map.

  • All control (KOTH) maps will be played to best of 3 points.

General Rules:

  • In the event of a draw, tournament organizers will select one control map to be played under a normal competitive ruleset as a tiebreaker

  • For all games that are not being streamed by Chicago Overwatch, both teams will designate one player to create a custom game lobby with the designated map and the following settings:

    • Presets > Standard - Competitive

    • Lobby > Pause Game on Player Disconnect - Yes

    • Modes > All > Kill Cam - Disabled

    • Visibility > INVITE ONLY (In-game spectators will not be allowed)

  • In the event of a technical or equipment issue, a pause can be requested in chat and the lobby host must pause the match by using ctrl+shift+equals. In the event of a technical issue outside of the player’s control, please contact a tournament organizer.

  • In the event of a new hero release coinciding with the tournament, we will only allow usage of new heroes if they are also live in the current Overwatch competitive mode.

  • Player substitutions or alternates will not be permitted during the tournament.

While we want everyone to have a flawless experience, the nature of a LAN tournament means that technical issues can and do happen. We will not allow excessive in-game pauses to address issues that do not prohibit the player or team from playing the game. This includes audio and peripheral issues. We cannot guarantee that any accessories brought to Ignite will work as they do in your home. It is up to the participant to adequately test their equipment before the match to ensure proper performance.

Code of Conduct:

  • All players are expected to follow Chicago Overwatch's rules regarding behavior and sportsmanship. While we encourage a highly competitive environment, we have a zero-tolerance policy for excessive toxicity or any hateful speech both in-game and out. Any teams found in violation of this will be given a warning and any subsequent issues will result in immediate disqualification.

  • Out of respect for the tournament staff and players, please be on time for your match. Teams will be given no more than a maximum of 5 minutes to be fully formed and ready to play in the match lobby or risk being disqualified.
